The Outsider Summary


The narrator starts off in an empty, dark and rotting “castle”, that he was seemingly born in. he one day discovers a way to leave the desolate place and attempts to interact in a neighboring building, only for those people to scream in terror. The narrator then comes across a what appears to be a monster, perplexed with morbid curiosity and terror, he reaches out to it.
The narrator then goes on to say he returned to the “castle” and only moves around at night. He welcomes his alienage, as in the last paragraph he reveals that what he touched was a “a cold and unyielding surface of polished glass”.
